Cherkowski, the team’s 2025 PWHL Draft second-round pick, scored 17 goals and recorded 28 assists for 45 points with Clarkson University in 2024-25, finishing second on the team in total scoring.
“I’m beyond excited to be signing with the Sirens for the next three seasons,” said Cherkowski in a team statement released Friday. “It’s an honor to begin my pro career in New York, and I can’t wait to get started with the team. I’m looking forward to contributing to this great organization and experiencing the energy of the Sirens fans.”
The 23-year-old spent five seasons playing college hockey in the NCAA, spending her freshman year with the University of Minnesota before transferring to Clarkson University for the next four seasons. In 168 career NCAA games, Cherkowski scored 60 goals and added 87 assists for 147 points, averaging 0.88 points-per-game.
Cherkowski’s best offensive season came in 2022-23, posting career highs in all offensive categories with 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points in just 40 games.
“We are proud and excited to announce a three-year agreement with Anne Cherkowski,” said Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust. “Her exceptional academic intelligence is mirrored in the way she plays the game across 200 feet. Combined with her speed and intensity, that hockey IQ becomes a weapon — one that can score, perform under pressure, and make both our team and her teammates better.
“We’re adding talent and leadership fully aligned with the New York Sirens’ commitment to excellence and high performance,” Daoust added.
Internationally, Cherkowski represented Canada multiple times, concluding the 2024 Collegiate Series, the 2023-24 Rivalry Series, as well as both the 2019 and 2020 IIHF Under-18 World Championships, earning gold and silver medals, respectively.
The Sirens went 8-4-5-13 with 37 points in 2024-25, finishing last in the PWHL. It was the second consecutive season New York failed to reach the Walter Cup playoffs.
