NHL Best Player Prop Bets for Today (Jan. 16): Shots, Goals, Points & Saves

Today’s NHL slate features five games, and with a smaller schedule comes tighter markets and fewer obvious spots. Using the 5v5hockey.com Premium Betting Model, we’ve identified the top player prop bets for January 16, focusing on shots, goals, points, and saves where projected fair value exceeds current market pricing.

Below, you’ll find the model’s top player prop bets of the day, with each pick backed by data-driven projections, usage trends, and matchup context to help identify value across the board.

Shot Prop: Macklin Celebrini Over 3.5 SOG (-120)

Celebrini has hit this prop in six of his last seven games (85.7% or -599), and tonight it’s available at -120. During that stretch, he’s averaged 4.6 SOG and an incredible 9.3 shot attempts per game. Even in the one game where he failed to reach four shots on goal, he still recorded six shot attempts.

The matchup only strengthens the case. Celebrini faces a Red Wings team that has allowed the second-most shot attempts per 60 minutes and the third-most shots on goal in their last 10 games. If you’re looking for a larger sample size, Celebrini has recorded 4+ SOG in 11 of his last 15 games (73.3% or -275).

Goal Prop: Brandon Hagel Over 0.5 Goals (+130)

Hagel failed to score in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, snapping a four-game goal-scoring streak, but his recent form remains excellent. He’s been red-hot over the past month and was promoted back to the top power-play unit following Brayden Point’s injury, which adds to his goal-scoring upside.

Hagel has scored at least one goal in 11 of his last 21 games (52.4% or -110), yet you can bet it at +130 tonight against a Blues team that ranks in the bottom third of the league in GA/60 and xGA/60 over their last 10 games. There’s additional upside if Jordan Binnington gets the start. Binnington has allowed an average of 4.0 goals per game across his last nine outings while posting a .858 SV%.

Point Prop: Darren Raddysh Over 0.5 Points (-143)

Raddysh continues to establish himself as one of the breakout performers of the 2025–26 season. He enters Friday with a point in 11 of his last 16 games, producing 21 points (9G / 12A) during that span.

He’s hit this mark in 68.8% of his games over the past five weeks (equivalent to -221), yet the market is offering -143 tonight. As noted with the Hagel goal prop, this is an excellent matchup for Lightning skaters, particularly if Binnington starts for St. Louis.

Save Prop: John Gibson Over 22.5 Saves (-125)

As mentioned with the Celebrini shot prop, Detroit has been allowing shot volume at one of the highest rates in the NHL over their last 10 games, which has translated into strong save totals Gibson. He has recorded 23+ saves in seven consecutive games and in 13 of his last 15 starts (86.7% or -654).

While San Jose isn’t a team that consistently dominates puck possession, they’re averaging 26.1 SOG/60 over their last 10 games — more than enough volume to push Gibson past this number. The model projects him for 25.8 saves tonight.
