NHL DFS Picks for December 8, 2025: Top Stacks, Best Value Plays & Goalie Targets

Let’s make some educated guesses for tonight and get to it.
Top Stack of the Day
Detroit Red Wings PP 1 (DeBrincat, Larkin, Kane, Raymond, Seider)
I grew up listening to Weird Al. He has some absolute anthems and one of my absolute favorites is from 2006, “White & Nerdy.” Well, tonight I want to roll with the gangsters, and those gangsters are from Detroit. This matchup, even before all of the Quinn Hughes news is amazing, the total is where you want it and the Red Wings are road favorites with a great implied total.
My only question, similar to White & Nerdy, is “The only question I ever thought was hard, was do I like Kirk or do I like Picard?” DET 1 has 2 members of the PP1, and DET 2 does also. Since it is a 5 game slate I ultimately might go with the 5-man over stack, but I can’t fault you going either direction here tonight.
Top Value Stack of the Day
Vancouver Canucks 1 (Boeser 4.6k DK, Kampf 2.5k DK, Garland 4.9k DK) $12,000
Let’s go back to the well and take the opposite side of this same game, specifically Garland and Boeser. Pettersson is out tonight, along with Chytil and really half of the Canucks roster. This forces Vancouver into some really goofy top 6’s that are to be blunt, really gross. VAN 1 will attempt to pick up the slack and at a minimum we should see some shots. (NOTE: If Pettersson ends up in, I still like Boeser and Garland who should skate together whether Pettersson is in or out.)
TOP C Value
Morgan Frost, Calgary Flames (3.7k DK)
Calgary gets to play a reeling Buffalo at home, and they have struggled to score this year but lately have been getting things going, going 6-3-1 in their last ten. Underlying metrics suggest Calgary isn’t truly as bad on offense as they have been all year and depending on what direction you want to go, I also think Kadri and Backlund are great values here.
Top W Value
Nick Paul, Tampa Bay Lightning (4.1k DK)
DraftKings surprisingly noticed that Paul is playing W and not C and changed his positional eligibility. Shocking, I know. This is a great spot for Paul whose TOI has been climbing since coming back from injury.
Top D Value
Charle-Edouard D’Astous, Tampa Bay Lightning (2.5k DK)
Do not overthink this. He’s the stone minimum tonight as the quarterback of the Tampa Power Play 1. He should get 20 or so minutes of ice time and this is just an insane mis-price. If I were re-pricing this slate right now he might be twice as expensive at around 5k.
Top G Value
<crickets>
Goalie is a wasteland for me tonight. There is no way I’m playing a $8200 Wolf versus a Buffalo team that even while they are losing score pretty well in a coin-flip matchup, and UPL for Buffalo on the opposite side looks like he’s going to be chalk. That being said, Buffalo could just shoot 2% again on 100 shots and that makes Wolf optimal. Basically, this game is a microcosm for how I feel about goalies on the entire slate. I have no idea and I’m not going to pretend that I do. Play a goalie that fits the rest of your lineup price wise. I know this isn’t the advice you are looking for, but on a slate like this, build your lineup first and then go backwards to fill in the goalie.
