Which division will produce the Stanley Cup winner this season?

As we prepare to kick off the 2026-27 season, many are making their picks regarding who will lift Lord Stanley’s Cup this spring.

Many wonder if the Carolina Hurricanes have what it takes to repeat as champions, while some question if the Florida Panthers will get back on the right track to championship glory. There’s also the discussion about which division poses the best threat to have a Stanley Cup winner come from its ranks. Some like to think the Atlantic Division has great shot, while other point to the Central Division, which had the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild, all staking their claim as Cup contenders both last year and this season.

On Monday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton give their choice of which division will take home the Stanley Cup this year.

Tyler Yaremchuk: The division that’s at No. 1 is the Central. You get the Avs, you get the Stars, you get the Wild. Maybe you want it like a fringe team would be the Mammoth…it was an easy number one for me to put the Central there.

Carter Hutton: Atlantic, top to bottom, I think is the sexiest for like the competition wise. But for top-heavy Stanley Cup favorites, I had to come to the Central. I still think Colorado is right in that window. Minnesota, Dallas…these are teams that are going to be pushing to win that Cup as they make additions. … I don’t think Chicago is going to be ready. The Blues, the Preds. But that being said, high-end, high-talent teams have potential to win the Cup. I like the Central, but there’s a lot of X-factors that go into it. This is starting before we drop the puck. This will change in a month. This will change in three months. This is an ever-going battle. That being said, I think the Central are three teams that we’re going to probably see at the top of the standings again.
