NHL fines Domi, Morrissey, and Zaitsev $5000 each

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey, along with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Max Domi and Ottawa Senators defenseman Nikita Zaitsev, have each been fined $5000 — the maximum amount allowable under the current CBA — the NHL’s Player Safety department announced Thursday morning.
Morrissey’s fine comes as the result of a vicious two-handed slash on Alexandre Texier as time expired in the game between the Jets and Blue Jackets last night.

— Head Coach Kae Wheatbread 🇱🇻 (@Kae_Wheatbread) November 25, 2021Domi’s fine was dolled out for “unsportsmanlike conduct”, although the league did not specify which incident Domi was being punished for. It’s worth noting he took three minor penalties in the Jackets’ 3-0 win over Winnipeg, and fired a puck into the Jets’ net long after a whistle, which is obviously a big no-no.
In his return to the Senators’ lineup from COVID-19 protocol, Zaitsev cross-checked Sharks forward Timo Meier in the head, and although he didn’t receive a penalty on the play, the league felt the need to step in and dish out some discipline for the play.
