Unlike the days of yesteryear, when the NHL would host a more “traditional” awards show, the league has taken the approach of announcing several awards ahead of time, using the current awards show as a way to honor winners of certain individual accolades such as the Norris Trophy and Jack Adams Award.
There will be a couple of trophies handed out during the awards show, as the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender and Hart Trophy for the league’s most valuable player will be announced during the show.
The show will be hosted by action Isaiah Mustafa. Best known for his role in Old Spice commercials, the former pro football player is a die-hard Los Angeles Kings fan, and is a general supporter of the game.
A couple of the 2025 NHL Awards have already been announced (granted, both went to the same guy). On Monday, Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov was honored with the Frank J. Selke Trophy for the best defensive forward, as well as the King Clancy Memorial Trophy which is given “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”
Other awards are expected to be announced in the coming days.
