NHL releases full order for 2025 Draft
We know the big-name prospects heading into the 2025 NHL Draft. Now, we know where each team stands heading into the annual event.
On Monday, the league revealed the full seven-round order for this year’s draft. With the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs now complete, each spot on the board has been set.
Among the 224 names that will be called in Los Angeles this weekend, the one everyone expects to hear the New York Islanders call first is Matthew Schaefer. The Erie Otters defenseman has an incredible upside to his game, despite not being able to show it most of this past season due to injury. Yet, with so much versatility in his game, it’s going to be tough not to see him blossom into a top-four blueliner soon.
The best forward heading into this year’s draft is Michael Misa. After winning the Memorial Cup with the Saginaw Spirit last season, the player who was once granted exceptional status into the Ontario Hockey League became an unstoppable force this past year, proving that he was always going to be a top prospect whenever he was going to enter the draft.
Along with Misa, other offensive weapons that you’ll hear about early on include Porter Martone, James Hagens and Brady Martin. Schaefer leads a solid defensive group in this year’s draft, along with Kashawn Aitcheson, Radim Mrtka and Jackson Smith.
The first round of the 2025 NHL Draft begins on Friday, June 27, at 7 p.m. ET. Rounds two through seven will be held on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 12 p.m. ET. This year’s decentralized event will be held at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theatre.
