On today’s episode of Daily Faceoff Live; Tyler Yaremchuk and Mike McKenna take to the #AskDFO inbox and discuss why St Louis Blues could part with goaltender Thomas Greiss, and why the Anaheim Ducks veteran Adam Henrique could be an under-the-radar pickup for a Stanley Cup contender.

Tyler Yaremchuk: For today’s question, Twitter user Christopher Anthony asked “if you could think of one or two players who would be off the board and who could be traded, who might that be?” So who are some off-the-board picks, Mike I’ll let you go first.

Mike McKenna: Well, this is a great question I started thinking defenseman first and then I was like “well let’s stick with what ya know here” so I’m thinking Thomas Greiss of the St. Louis Blues and he’s played a number two role this season. He’s an older goaltender in his upper 30s but he’s held a .909 save percentage on the season, he’s got a career .912 save percentage and he’s got playoff experience. I think you could do a lot worse if you’re trying to add depth in goal which a few teams would be looking for that I imagine but he’s done a pretty good job this year. This is a team in St. Louis that has been challenged defensively and here’s the reason why, the Blues have Joel Hofer down in the AHL in Springfield he was an All-Star this season, he’s 6-foot-5 and the next two years of his contract are one-way deals. He’s also got three assists this season and he scored a goal last season, Joel Hofer is knocking on the door. So, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an offer for Greiss and see him get moved.

Tyler Yaremchuk: For me, I’m going down the middle on this one, teams always like center depth and what about Adam Henrique in Anaheim? A guy who’s got an extra year on his deal and has been putting up respectable numbers on a team that’s anything but that. He’s got one more year, paying just under $6 million and if you’re willing to retain half of this if you’re Anaheim and you can get this thing down to $2.9 million there are probably a handful of teams who would not just get three months of him this year, but a full season next year. If I was a team like the Edmonton Oilers and Ken Holland, I’d give up a first-round pick for this guy. Even for a team like the Carolina Hurricanes, if you miss out on Ryan O’Reilly what’s wrong with checking down the line a bit to an Adam Henrique? We know Don Waddell is into the rental market and he’d make a ton of sense there too.
