Charge re-sign Angers, Meixner, Isbell, Adolfsson to one-year contracts

The Ottawa Charge have added a few more returning faces for the team’s third year of operation.
On Thursday, the team announced that it has signed forward Anna Meixner, defenders Sam Isbell and Jessica Adolfsson, and goaltender Logan Angers to one-year contracts.
Meixner saw the most time out of the bunch last season, proving to be a capable depth player in her rookie season. Originally taken by the Charge in the sixth round, 32nd overall, of the 2024 PWHL Draft, she played in 28 of the team’s 30 regular-season affairs, scoring her first PWHL goal on Dec. 19 against the Minnesota Frost.
The Austrian ended up notching two points over the course of the season, registering a plus/minus of -2 while averaging around 10 minutes of ice time per game. Meixner also posted two helpers during the playoffs, as Ottawa made it all the way to the PWHL Final, losing to the Minnesota Frost in four games.
Isbell’s name popped up a lot over last season, as she was added to the main roster on a 10-day contract in January while a few players were out with injury. She ended up playing in four games, not scoring a point while posting a -1 rating. The Thunder Bay native returned for the playoffs, taking Jincy Roese’s spot in the lineup during the first round against the Montreal Victoire while she was on LTIR.
Isbell has appeared in 14 regular-season games, having started off her career with Boston in 2024.
Angers ended up becoming a more prominent name on the Charge roster after Emeranche Maschmeyer ended up going down with a season-ending injury in March. An undrafted netminder coming out of Quinnipiac, she never appeared in a game last season, spending the season as the No. 3 goaltender.
Angers might have some work to do to get some game action in 2025-26. With Rookie of the Year Finalist Gwyneth Philips taking the No. 1 role, and the Charge drafting Sanni Ahola, she might be sitting in the press box come next season.
Adolfsson was on the team’s reserve list for just about all of the 2024-25 campaign. The Swedish blueliner played most of the season with HV71 of the SDHL, picking up four assists in 13 games. She signed a 10-day contract in January, making her PWHL debut on Jan. 11 against the Boston Fleet.
With the plethora of signings, the Charge have 12 of a possible 23 players signed to standard contracts for next season. The quartet returns to a team that includes key players like Emily Clark and Ronja Savolainen.
