A sigh of relief in the nation’s capital.

Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green told the media that goaltender Linus Ullmark will return to the net Thursday night, when the team hosts the Philadelphia Flyers.

Many Sens fans feared the worst when Ullmark left a game on Monday night against the Boston Bruins with an undisclosed injury. During the second period, Ullmark was bumped by Bruins forward William Eklund, which led to a brief scrum. While Ullmark managed to play out the last few minutes of the middle frame, he didn’t come out for the third period. With Samuel Ersson in relief, Ottawa held on for a 4-1 win.

With the obvious concern for the Swedish netminder’s health back in everyone’s minds, fans and media alike worried about what the Senators would become if Ullmark was out long-term. When the veteran missed long stretches last season due to injury and personal leave, Ottawa struggled to hang with the best in the ever-competitive Atlantic Division. Yet Ullmark returned in time to help the Sens clinch a Wild Card spot, though they were quickly ousted in the first round by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.

Ullmark missed only one game after getting hurt, and the team fell 5-3 to the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. The 33-year-old is 2-0-0 so far this season, having also scored a victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Sens’ season opener. He has posted a 1.20 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage.

Ullmark is in his third season with Ottawa, and the second of his four-year contract extension that he signed in October 2024. The deal carries a $8.25 million cap hit through the 2028-29 campaign, with a full no-move clause.

Puck drop between the Sens and Flyers is set for 7 p.m. ET.
