Ottawa Senators forward Mathieu Joseph has been fined $5,000 for high-sticking New York Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho on Monday night.

Joseph was given a penalty at 7:23 in the third for the infraction. The Islanders went on to win the game 4-2, with the Senators falling to 2-7-1 in the past 10 games.

Joseph, 25, has three points in 15 games with the Senators this season. The team acquired him at the trade deadline for Nick Paul last year, and Joseph went on a roll to end the season with 12 points in 11 games.

A bottom-six forward, Joseph is known more for his speed and penalty killing acumen. He’ll never produce much offense, but he’ll throw a few hits on the board every game and make life tough for his opponents.
