The NHL has fined Ottawa Senators forward Nick Cousins

Now is his 12th NHL season, Cousins has earned quite the reputation as an agitator. Fans may remember an incident from Game 3 of last season’s opening round playoff loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, in which Cousins appeared to be shooting pucks at Toronto goaltender Anthony Stolarz during pre-game warmups, resulting in Cousins receiving a $2,083.33 fine. While with the Canadiens during the 2019-20 season, Cousins was fined $2,688.17 for a boarding against Mike Green of the Detroit Red Wings.

This isn’t the first time the Belleville, Ontario native has been fined for diving, either. During the 2017-18 season, while a member of the now-relocated Arizona Coyotes, he was fined $2,000 for embellishment following two warnings earlier in the season.

In 19 games played for Ottawa this season, Cousins has three goals and an assist four points in just over 11 minutes of ice time per game.

The Senators will kick off a seven-game road trip when they play the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.
