Senators re-sign Nick Cousins to one-year, $825,000 contract

The Ottawa Senators and forward Nick Cousins have agreed to terms on a one-year, $825,000 deal, according to Ottawa Sun reporter Bruce Garrioch.

The deal was first reported by social media user @LalimesMartian.

Cousins spent the 2024-25 season with the Senators, scoring six goals and nine assists for 15 points and 41 penalty minutes in 50 regular-season games. He also appeared in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Through 11 NHL seasons, the 31-year-old Cousins has 77 goals and 118 assists for 195 points in 642 career regular-season games with the Senators, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes and Philadelphia Flyers.

Cousins, a native of Belleville, Ont., has also appeared in 68 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. He was part of the Panthers’ two Stanley Cup Final runs in 2023 and 2024, helping the team win a championship in 2024.

Cousins was drafted by the Flyers in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He spent four seasons in the OHL with the Soo Greyhounds, scoring 102 goals and 189 assists for 291 points in 264 career regular-season games.

The Senators finished the 2024-25 season with a 45-30-7 with 97 points, fourth in the Atlantic Division and clinching the No. 1 Wild Card spot. They were eliminated in six games by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Forward Tim Stutzle lead the team in assists and points with 55 and 79, respectively. Ottawa captain Brady Tkachuk led in goals with 29, and the team finished with five 20-goal scorers: Stutzle, Tkachuk, Drake Batherson, Shane Pinto and Josh Norris.
