Senators sign Wyatt Bongiovanni to one-year contract

The Ottawa Senators have signed unrestricted free agent left winger Wyatt Bongiovanni to a one-year, two-way contract, according to PuckPedia. The contract carries a $775,000 average annual value at the NHL level.
Bongiovanni returns to the Senators’ organization after having spent part of the past two seasons with the AHL affiliated Belleville Senators. With Belleville in 2024-25, the 25-year-old native of Birmingham, Mich., tallied 22 goals and 11 assists for 33 points coupled with 27 penalty minutes and a plus-three rating in 54 games. In all, Bongiovanni’s 33-point effort marked a new career high and an eight-point uptick from the season prior when he split time between Belleville and the Manitoba Moose, the Winnipeg Jets‘ farm club.
A veteran of 161 career contests over five seasons at the AHL level, Bongiovanni has totaled 51 goals and 25 assists for 76 career points.
A graduate of the NCAA’s Quinnipiac Bobcats, Bongiovanni spent four seasons at the collegiate level from 2018-22 highlighted by his senior year where in 42 outings he collected 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points to rank second in team scoring. For his efforts, Bongiovanni was named to the ECAC’s Third All-Star Team. Of note, Bongiovanni was also recognized as part of the ECAC’s All-Rookie Team in his freshman campaign when he finished with 23 points counting 14 goals and nine assists through 38 outings. Collectively, through four seasons with the Bobcats, Bongiovanni totaled 50 goals and 40 assists for 90 points in 123 career contests.
Prior to committing to Quinnipiac, Bongiovanni spent three seasons in the USHL, counting stops with the Des Moines Buccaneers, Tri-City Storm, and Muskegon Lumberjacks. Through 152 contests in the USHL, Bongiovanni totaled 32 goals and 47 assists for 79 points, highlighted by his 35-point performance with Muskegon in 2017-18.
In 2022, Bongiovanni signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent.
