Senators’ Thomas Chabot leaves game with upper-body injury

A potentially costly loss for the team in the nation’s capital.
During the Ottawa Senators‘ game against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot exited the contest with an upper-body injury.
In the first period, Chabot took a hit from Stars forward Colin Blackwell in the neutral zone, with Chabot awkwardly hitting the sideboards in front of the Dallas bench. The veteran blueliner gingerly left the ice to return to his team’s bench.
Here's where Chabot got hurt. My guess would be his back, but can't be sure. #GoSensGo Optimistic side of me says it shouldn't be long-term since he tried to skate it off.
Chabot initially came out of the team’s dressing room, took a couple of laps to warm up for the second period, and promptly left the bench to head back down the tunnel. He didn’t return to the game after that. It’s too early to tell the severity of Chabot’s injury.
The 28-year-old registered just 6:51 of ice time across nine shifts.
The Sainte-Marie, Que. native had appeared in the Sens’ first 16 games of the 2025-26 season, scoring two goals and eight assists for 10 points. He came into the night with a plus/minus of +6 while averaging 22:52 of ice time, second on the team behind fellow blueliner Jake Sanderson (23:53). He has been a key part of the team’s strong start, as Ottawa has won eight games thus far, putting the team in the top three in the Atlantic Division heading into Tuesday night.
Chabot entered the new campaign after one of the best seasons of his NHL career. Along with scoring nine goals and 36 assists for 45 points, he also got to taste playoff hockey for the first time in his NHL career, as he helped Ottawa punch its ticket to the postseason for the first time in eight years.
