Senators sign Travis Green to multi-year extension

The Ottawa Senators announced Monday that they have signed head coach Travis Green to a multi-year contract extension.
Green, 55, is in his third season behind the Ottawa bench. Through Monday, he’s posted a record of 95-60-18 with a points percentage of .601. He’s led the Senators to two consecutive Stanley Cup Playoff appearances — their first since 2017.
“When I was in the search to identify our head coach two years ago, it was clear to me that Travis had the qualities to move our team forward,” general manager Steve Staios said in a news release.
“I have watched him implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities. We share the same vision and philosophy and are confident we can continue to build on our team.”
Green, a native of Castlegar, B.C., has nine seasons of experience as an NHL head coach. He spent four-and-a-half years behind the bench with the Vancouver Canucks between 2017-18 and 2021-22, leading them through the playoffs in 2020.
He also had a short stint with the New Jersey Devils in 2023-24.
As a player, Green played 14 seasons in the NHL, where he scored 193 goals and added 262 assists for 455 points and 764 penalty minutes in 970 regular-season games with the New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins.
He was part of the Leafs’ 2002 Eastern Conference Final run, where he recorded three goals and six assists for nine points in 20 games.
