Pass or Fail: Breaking down Utah’s debut NHL jerseys

Not long after the newest NHL franchise revealed its identity, we know what the team is going to don for their inaugural season.

On Thursday, Utah Hockey Club revealed its jerseys, as well as its branding, for the 2024-25 season.

The team, which moved to Salt Lake City after spending the last 27 years known as the Arizona Coyotes, will have its primary colors consisting of black, white, and baby blue, with rather simple logos. Their home sweater will be mostly black with the blue and white trim, with their away uniforms have a white base with black a blue stripes.

The name “Utah Hockey Club” is currently a placeholder for the franchise’s first year, as the team is widdling down names from a fan survey. Utah HC is still in the running to be the team’s permanent moniker.

On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss whether or not they like Utah HC’s colors and jerseys.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Give me one word to describe them.

Frank Seravalli: Simple. Look, I don’t have any issue with these uniforms, or the logo. This was supposed to be temporary, and it is temporary, unless they decide to go with “Utah Hockey Club” as their name moving forward. My issue is, the Utah Hockey Club could have, by getting this team [in April], there’s no doubt they could get a logo, get a name and unroll Day 1, Game 1 jerseys in time, in September for preseason. What it feels like to me, having been a guy that went to Utah and watched all of this unfold…it kind of feels like a money-grab.

Tyler: I don’t love it for Utah, and I don’t like the look, either of those jerseys.
