It’s showtime.

The Detroit Red Wings have announced that Patrick Kane will make his season debut with his new club against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

The game is set for 7:00 PM at Little Caesars Arena.

Kane signed a one-year contract worth $2.75 million with the Red Wings last week, with the legendary American forward missing the season to date after hip surgery. Kane had been training outside of Toronto in an attempt to make a return to the NHL after last playing with the New York Rangers last year.

Kane had 12 points in 19 games after getting dealt before the trade deadline and had one goal and six points in seven playoff games. Still, he didn’t look up to his usual self, even compared to his 60-point pace with the Chicago Blackhawks prior to the trade.

Drafted first overall in 2007, Kane quickly became one of the best players in American history. He led Chicago to Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013 and 2015, won silver at the 2010 Olympics with USA, won the Calder Trophy in 2008 and took home the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 2015-16.

To date, Kane has 451 goals and 1,237 points in 16 seasons, mostly with the Blackhawks. Kane is only 154 points behind Brett Hull’s 1,391 career points for the most by an American player. But if he can still carve out a few more successful years in the NHL, the 35-year-old should be able to become No. 1 en route to an eventual spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Red Wings sit second in the Atlantic Division with a 14-7-3 record and 31 points in 24 games. They’re six points behind Boston for first, and just one point ahead of Florida in third. The Wings are in the midst of a three-game win streak, and it’ll be interesting to see if Kane can help keep it alive.
