Flyers select Jack Nesbitt No. 12 overall in 2025 NHL Draft

The Philadelphia Flyers selected Jack Nesbitt with the 12th overall pick Friday night at The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The pick was moved to the Flyers from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins had the 12th overall pick, given to them by the New York Rangers. In return, the Flyers gave up the 22nd and 31st overall picks, which were traded to them by the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers, respectively.
Nesbitt spent the 2024-25 season with the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he tallied 25 goals and 39 assists for 64 points in 65 games. Nesbitt’s point totals ranked him fifth among Spitfires skaters.
Nesbitt is a big modern-day power forward who is not afraid to get into the dirty areas and get the grimey work done. The 18-year-old is evasive and uses spatial awareness to make himself available.
The Sarnia native is set to return to Windsor next season and undergo his third season with the Spitfires. During the 2023-24 rookie season, Nesbitt scored nine goals and 18 points in 58 games on a struggling Windsor team that ended up finishing last that year in the OHL standings.
Nesbitt represented Canada at the Under-18 World Championships, where he tallied two goals and three assists for five points in six games, capturing a gold medal. In 2023-24, Nesbitt represented Canada White at the Under-17 World Hockey Championship,s where he won a gold medal.
Nesbitt ranked No. 32 on Steven Ellis’ Final Top-120 Draft rankings. “Nesbitt was often one of Windsor’s better shot generators, and while he didn’t put up Liam Greentree numbers, he still finished at close to a point per game. He’s a big, 6-foot-4 center – teams typically like that. I wish he had more top speed, but I think Nesbitt has a solid ceiling. He showed how good he could be around the net during the U-18s, creating havoc and pushing guys around while jumping in on rebounds. Some scouts don’t know if he’ll be more than a third-line center, but I feel confident he’ll be an NHLer.”
