Flyers place Rasmus Ristolainen on IR, activate Cam York

Some roster shuffling on the blue line in the City of Brotherly Love.
On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that the team has placed defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen on injured reserve, while fellow rearguard Cam York has been activated from IR.
The Flyers called up forward Jacob Gaucher from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, as well.
York has been on IR since last Sunday, which was retroactive to his last appearance in the lineup on Oct. 8. The 25-year-old has been out of action due to an upper-body injury. In the eight games he has missed, the Flyers have finally put themselves in the win column, but they continue to struggle against some of the better teams in the NHL. Philadelphia went 3-4-1 with York out of the lineup, but remain at the bottom of the Eastern Conference in win percentage.
The former Michigan Wolverine failed to score a point in his first five games of the 2026-27 season. He has a plus/minus of -6 while averaging 21:49 of ice time per game, ranking third on the team.
Even though he’d be eligible to return as early as this coming weekend, it was announced on Monday that Ristolainen will be out for the next two weeks with an upper-body injury of his own. The 31-year-old already missed nine games earlier this season with a hand injury before re-aggravating it last Saturday in a 5-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. The Finnish rearguard has yet to register a point in four appearances, averaging just over 17 minutes of ice time.
York will be eligible to return to the lineup on Tuesday night, as the Flyers (3-7-3) take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in a battle between two of the worst teams in the East thus far.
