The Philadelphia Flyers signed forward Rodrigo Abols to a one-year, $800,000 contract extension, according to PuckPedia.

The extension is a one-way deal. The 29-year-old Abols was going to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Last season, Abols made his NHL debut with the Flyers, scoring two goals and three assists for five points in 22 regular-season games. He also appeared in 47 games with Philadelphia’s AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, scoring 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points. He joined the Flyers organization in June 2024 after signing a one-year, two-way contract that paid him $775,000.

Abols spent the 2023-24 regular season with Rögle BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) where he recorded 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points in 50 games. He tied for first in power-play goals, ranked second on the team in goals, and tied for third in game-winning goals. Throughout his time in Sweden, the Riga, Latvia native scored 85 goals and 78 assists for 163 points in 266 career games in the SHL in six seasons with Örebro.

Abols made his AHL debut during the 2019-20 season with the Springfield Thunderbirds. He collected seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 36 games.

In 2024-25, the Flyers went 33-39-10 with 76 points, last in the Metropolitan Division and tied for last with the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference. The team ended up with the No. 6 overall selection in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft in last week’s draft lottery.
