Have the Flyers saved their season with back-to-back wins?

Don’t look now, but the Philadelphia Flyers are… on a hot streak? Well, maybe not quite yet, but the Flyers have won two straight games after going winless over their first nine games of the season. Not only that, but they’ve beaten quality opponents, taking down the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche.
The awakening of forward Matvei Michkov has been a big factor in Philadelphia’s newfound success, as he’s had multi-point games in each of the team’s victories. Forward Trevor Zegras stepped up with a three-assist effort in Monday’s 3-2 win over Colorado. The Flyers still have a poor early-season record, but maybe they’ve gotten some confidence they can carry through the rest of the year.
On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, hosts Carter Hutton and Steve Peters discussed whether the Flyers have gotten their season on track after back-to-back wins.
Carter Hutton: The pesky Flyers, did this save their season, finding a way to win last night, Petey?
Steve Peters: I don’t know if it saves their season quite yet. They’re going to have to string some wins together. When you come out of the gate losing nine, you’re going to have to win three out of four a couple of times here over the next month just to kind of get yourself back into this race. The reality is, like I said, once you get on those streaks when you’re losing, you almost find a way to lose, like “Oh my gosh, here we go again. We gave up a late goal.” It’s hard to get out of that. Right now, they’re feeling good, so ride it.
You’re right, it was a huge win against the Colorado Avalanche at home. That’s a big, big win. Same with Ottawa. Can they propel this? I think the key for this team is, can they score? We’re going to talk about it, it’s Matvei Michkov. Is he finally starting to mature into the player that the fans thought he was going to be, and is he matching the hype that was set for him a little too early in Philadelphia?
