The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Friday that they have re-signed goalie Aleksei Kolosov to a one-year contract extension that comes with a salary cap hit of $850,000.

A third-round pick by the Flyers at No. 78 overall in the 2021 NHL Draft, Kolosov is a six-foot-one, 185-pound netminder who appeared in four games at the NHL level this season, posting a .830 save percentage and 4.00 goals against average.

He made his NHL debut in the 2024-25 campaign, when he logged 17 appearances and 13 starts as Philadelphia struggled to find stability between the crease, turning shots aside at a .867 clip and allowing a 3.59 GAA.

For his NHL career, Kolosov sports a 5-11-1 record with a 3.64 GAA and .863 SV%, and he has yet to record his first career shutout.

The native of Minsk, Belarus spent most of this past season with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley Phantoms, posting a .895 SV% and 2.98 GAA in 38 appearances that saw him go 15-21-2 with two shutouts.

Kolosov will likely reprise his role as Philadelphia’s third goaltender next year, as he will provide depth behind Dan Vladar, who is signed for one more season at a $3,350,000 cap hit, and possibly Samuel Ersson, who is set to be a restricted free agent.

The Flyers struggled in net for a large portion of the season before Vladar took the leap toward looking like a strong starter, as the Czech was excellent down the stretch to push the team into a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where he did well in the team’s two series, a win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and a four-game sweep at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Under general manager Daniel Briere and first-year head coach Rick Tocchet, the 2025-26 campaign was a success due to the snapping of a playoff drought that dated back to 2020, and now the Flyers will look to build upon their momentum in 2026-27.
