The Philadelphia Flyers have signed netminder Aleksei Kolosov to a three-year, entry-level contract. According to CapFriendly, the contract will have an average annual value (AAV) of $925,000.

Kolosov spent the 2022-23 season with Dinamo Minsk in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He posted a 13-21-5 record with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 42 appearances. The 21-year-old has spent his career with the Dinamo Minsk program and made his KHL debut in 2020-21; that same season, he was named the Belarus Young Player of the Month for December. At just 18 years old, he became the youngest goaltender in Dinamo’s team history to record a shutout victory with a 22-save performance.

During the 2021-22 campaign, Kolosov once again got starts at the KHL level; he also represented Belarus at the IIHF Division I-A World Junior Championship, where Belarus won gold, gaining promotion to the top division. Kolosov was named the U20 WJC (D1A) Best Goaltender and Best Player on the Team. He also donned the Belarusian sweater in the 2019-20 U18 World Junior Championships, where he captured a bronze medal.

The Flyers initially selected the Minsk, Belarus product No. 78 overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. Kolosov was ranked as the 2nd highest European goalie available by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau before the 2021 NHL Draft. He was also selected No. 22 overall in the 2020 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Import Draft by the Erie Otters and committed to coming to North America until Covid-19 upended that. Kolosov stayed with the Dinamo Minsk club.
