The Florida Panthers originally selected Tippett in the first round (No. 10 overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
The 6’1″, 207-pound right wing played parts of three regular seasons with the Panthers, scoring 14 goals and 33 points in 94 games, before being moved to Philadelphia at the 2022 trade deadline. Tippett also added one goal and four assists with the Panthers during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
On March 19 of this year, the Panthers traded Tippett, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2023 third-round pick to the Flyers in exchange for Claude Giroux, German Rubtsov, Connor Bunnaman, and a 2024 fifth-round pick. Tippett saw his average ice-time jump from 12:32 to 15:12 per game after arriving in Philadelphia.
In 63 games with Florida and Philadelphia during the 2021–22 season, Tippett scored 10 goals and 21 points. He has 18 goals and 40 points in 115 career National Hockey League games since making his debut with the Panthers in 2017–18.
Tippett rejoins a Flyers forward group that also includes Sean Couturier, Kevin Hayes, James van Riemsdyk, Cam Atkinson, Travis Konecny, Joel Farabee, Scott Laughton, Nicolas Deslauriers, Bobby Brink, Noah Cates, and Morgan Frost.
