Flyers sign Jack Berglund to three-year, entry-level contract

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Thursday they have signed forward Jack Berglund to a three-year, entry-level contract that will begin in 2026-27.

According to a team press release, Berglund will immediately report to the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

The 19-year-old was taken in the second round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the majority of the 2025-26 campaign with Farjestads BK Karlstad of the Swedish Elite League, recording seven goals and five assists for 12 points in 40 regular-season games. He also recorded three assists in seven playoff games.

Berglund served as captain for Sweden at the 2026 World Junior Championships, recording three goals and seven assists for 10 points in seven games, finishing with a tournament-leading plus-minus of plus-nine. He helped Sweden earn their first gold medal since 2012.

Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis wrote this about Berglund after the Flyers drafted him in 2024:

“I really believe in Berglund, someone who I think will be a good role NHLer. He’s got a 6-foot-3 frame, is big at 209 pounds and can muscle his way past anyone,” he wrote.

“For me, he fits the mold of a bottom-six center perfectly – he’s defensively responsible, he’s strong and can move well, too.”

Ahead of Thursday’s slate of games, the Flyers are 40-26-12 with 92 points, third in the Atlantic Division. They are on pace to clinch a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2020, and the first time in a season not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since 2018.
