The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that winger Tyson Foerster has left Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins due to an upper-body injury.

Foerster sustained the injury in a very unique way, as he got hurt while taking a one-timer on a 5-on-3 for the Flyers. He looked to be in extreme discomfort after the play, and was clutching his arm on the way to the bench. He went down the tunnel immediately, and then the Flyers confirmed his departure as the second period was ending.

The injury came right after Foerster had scored on a different 5-on-3 power play for the Flyers to tie the game at 1-1. He leaves the game with the goal, two shots and a takeaway in 8:50 of ice time.

At this point in time, no update has been provided on the specifics of Foerster’s injury or how much time he’s expected to miss. The Flyers play another home game on Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres, so if head coach Rick Tocchet can’t provide an update after Monday’s game, there will likely be a practice on Tuesday that he can give a more in-depth one.

Foerster has had an excellent start to the season, with 10 goals and three assists for 13 points in 21 games. Assuming he doesn’t miss any games with the injury, he’s on pace for 37 goals and 48 points this season, both which would be career highs for the Alliston, Ontario product, surpassing his previous best of 25 and 43 set in 2024-25.

Should Foerster miss a significant amount of time, Nicolas Deslauriers was the Flyers lone forward healthy scratch and will likely slot into the lineup in Foerster’s place. Deslauriers has had a quiet start to the season and has been in and out of the lineup, as he has no points in just 11 games so far.
