Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry gets the start vs New York Islanders

Prior to his injury, Jarry had a rocky go with four losses in five games, but overall, he’s had a good season after posting a record of 16-5-5, a .921 save percentage, and 2.65 goals against average. Jarry has also been one of the busier goalies in the league taking on 886 shots on goal in just 27 starts. In his absence, the Penguins recalled goaltender Dustin Tokarski from their American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.
Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan spoke to reporters Saturday regarding Jarry’s injury and confirmed that Jarry and his team are seeing doctors and consultants outside of the Penguins organization.
“There’s been multiple, (doctors). There’s a group of them,” said Sullivan. “There have been outside consultants, as well, so that they’re making sure they’re doing their due diligence so that they monitor Tristan as closely as they can” Jarry has missed 15 of the last 17 Penguins games.
Jarry is set to become an unrestricted free agent come July 1. He signed a three-year $10 million extension in Oct. 2020 with the Penguins; the contract carries an average annual value of $3.5 million.
The Penguins currently sit tied for first in the tight race Wild Card with a 27-19-9 record and a points percentage of .573%. They sit tied with the New York Islanders at 63 points, with the Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers trailing behind with 62 points.
