Penguins sign Connor Dewar to one-year contract

The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Connor Dewar to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and The Athletic’s Josh Yohe reported the deal.

Dewar spent the 2024-25 season with the Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs, scoring four goals and six assists for 10 points in 48 regular-season games. In 238 career regular-season NHL games, Dewar has 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points with the Penguins, Maple Leafs and Minnesota Wild.

Dewar, a native of The Pas, Man., has also played in 104 career AHL regular-season games, scoring 27 goals and 34 assists for 61 points with the Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlins.

Dewar, a native of The Pas, Man., was taken in the third round by the Wild in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. In four seasons with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, Dewar had 99 goals and 98 assists for 197 points in 270 regular-season games. He also scored 19 goals and 20 assists for 39 points in 50 WHL playoff games.

The Penguins finished the 2024-25 season with a 34-36-12 record and 80 points, seventh in the Metropolitan Division and fourth last in the Eastern Conference. It was the third straight season Pittsburgh has missed the playoffs.

Sidney Crosby finished the year with 33 goals and 58 assists for 91 points, leading the team in both assists and points. Rickard Rakell led the team in goals with 35. Erik Karlsson led the blue line in all offensive categories, scoring 11 goals and 42 assists for 53 points.

The Penguins hired Dan Muse as their new head coach on June 4.
