Penguins sign Chinakhov, three others to contracts

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Sunday they avoided arbitration with four players and signed them to new contracts, including forward Egor Chinakhov.
The Omsk, Russia native signed a three-year, $18.75-million contract that will pay him an annual average value of $6.25 million.

Last season, Chinakhov scored 21 goals and recorded 21 assists for 42 points in 72 games, setting new career highs in all categories. He was acquired by the Penguins in a trade last December with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Across five NHL seasons with Pittsburgh and Columbus, Chinakhov, a 2020 first-round pick, has 55 goals and 58 assists for 113 points in 247 regular-season games.
The Penguins also signed goaltender Arturs Silovs to a one-year, $2.8-million contract. In 39 games last season, he went 19-12-8 with an .887 save percentage (SV%) and 3.07 goals against average (GAA).

In four NHL seasons, the Latvian netminder has a 27-20-10 record with an .885 SV% and 3.09 GAA in 58 career games with both Pittsburgh and the Vancouver Canucks.
The team announced they signed forward David Gustafsson to a one-year deal worth $850,000 at the NHL level and goaltender Joel Blomqvist to a two-year deal worth $875,000 at the NHL level.
Gustafsson, 26, had 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 48 AHL games with the Manitoba Moose in 2025-26. He also had a goal and three assists for four points in seven Calder Cup Playoff contests.
As for Blomqvist, 24, he went 16-5-6 with a .913 SV% and 2.40 GAA in 26 AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Taken in the second round by Pittsburgh in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, he’s played in 91 career AHL contests, going 49-26-16 with a .916 SV% and 2.38 GAA and three shutouts.
