PointsBet Daily Picks: Flyers/Maple Leafs & Auston Matthews points prop

Tyler Yaremchuk joined Frank Seravalli and Mike McKenna on Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff Live for another PointsBet Daily Picks segment.

Just two games on the schedule tonight between the Philadelphia Flyers vs Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins vs Buffalo Sabres. Will the Leafs cover the Puckline? Can Auston Matthews find himself on the scoresheet? Yaremchuk has you covered on all your betting needs for tonight’s matchups.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Tonight, two games on the slate courtesy of our friends at PointsBet Canada. Let’s jump into it. I actually only have one play for these two games and it’s in that Toronto and Philly matchup. Where the Leafs are massive favorites, I don’t love that. I do think they’re going to win tonight, I think they’ll come out hungry and motivated but the value is just not really there on the Puckline in my opinion.

But, I do like an Auston Matthews prop, at first I was going to take him to score, but that’s all the way down at -170. So, I’m going to go a step further and take him over 1.5 points. Simply put, Matthews has been one of the unluckiest players in the NHL so far this season. He is second in scoring chances per 60 at 5-on-5, and he’s third in shots per 60 at 5-on-5 according to NaturalStatTrick. Yet his shooting percentage is 2.78% at 5-on-5 and last season it was over 15%. It’s +135 for Matthews to go over a point and a half and I love him to do that against the Philadelphia Flyers. I think there’s going to be some positive progression coming soon in Matthews’ game and I’m willing to bet on it at +135 in tonight’s game Frank.
