Ryan Miller could be a hidden gem in the 2025 NHL Draft

Ryan Miller of the Portland Winterhawks has been quietly catching the eyes of scouts after a season where he totalled 16 goals and 31 points in 50 games.
Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Steven Ellis broke down how Miller could be a hidden gem in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Steven, your top 80 rankings came out. Is there anyone, though, who is maybe outside of that whom you were attempting to sneak in, or who you’ve had your eye on recently?
Steven Ellis: Yeah, it’s a guy that I didn’t really know a whole lot about until the last couple of weeks, and it’s Ryan Miller and not the goaltender, but it’s a winger of the Portland Winterhawks. This guy, I love guys like Brady Martin, guys that will just fight for their life out there, and you look at these numbers, nothing too crazy there, but Miller was a big part of the Winterhawks this year, just so tenacious, so quick, like that’s a guy that you really wanna go out there and and win with, because he’s actually took a ton of faceoffs this year for a guy who technically is more of a winger. He’s not that big, but he plays heavy.
Steven Ellis: He goes out there trying to hit. He’s aggressive, so there’s a lot of energy there. Like that’s someone who you think of as maybe tops out as a third line player, maybe a fourth line guy, but you still want them there because he knows how to chase after guys, he’s got that drive to win every single shift. Those are guys you are always trying to find in the third or fourth round, someone who you might be able to win on as a depth guy that plays that role really, really well. And it’s a type of guy that the teams will trade for at the trade deadline.
