Predators’ Luke Schenn credited with six shots on goal in three seconds

If New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin finishes the season as the league leader in save percentage, he might want to sent Nashville Predators defenseman Luke Schenn a gift card.
Last night during New York’s visit to Music City, In one of the most bizarre statistical occurrences in NHL history, Schenn was credited with six shots in a span of three seconds. That’s two shots on goal per second.
The phenomenon went down during a scramble at the Rangers net in the second period of Nashville’s 2-0 victory Tuesday night. Schenn, a righthanded shot, stood to the right of the Ranger crease trying to jam a loose puck past Shesterkin. Schenn got six whacks in, each bouncing off Shesterkin’s pad, and wasn’t able to convert any of them for a goal. Check out the sequence:
Something you don't see every day... Luke Schenn was credited with 6 shots on goal in the span of 3 seconds last night against the Rangers 🤯😭
I don't think I've ever seen this before, but Luke Schenn, yes defenseman Luke Schenn, recorded six shots on goal in the span of three seconds. This is the most amazing stat in Predators history.
Even stranger: Schenn is a 17-year veteran, and his career high for shots in a game entering Tuesday’s action was six across his 1,027 game career. In Game 1,028, he equalled his career high in a span of three seconds. He finished the game with seven to set a new personal best.
It was a mild benchmark in a rare win for the Predators, who have spent most of this season stunning the league with their ineptitude. Tuesday’s victory “improved” their record to 9-17-3, still tied for dead last in the NHL with 24 points. After making the playoffs last season and signing forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, plus defenseman Brady Skjei, to lucrative long-term deals in 2024 free agency, the Preds hoped to seriously contend for a Stanley Cup, Instead, they’re contending for an NHL Draft Lottery win.
The Rangers, meanwhile, are in similarly dire straits, falling to 15-15-1 after starting the season 12-4-1. They’ve dropped three consecutive games and seven of their past 10.
