PWHL announces 2026-27 opening weekend
The PWHL announced that the 2026-27 regular season will open on the first weekend of December.
In a news release shared Monday, the league said all 12 games will play on the Dec. 5-6 weekend, which will feature the debut of four expansion teams.
The season kicks off on the Saturday when the Vancouver Goldeneyes host the Seattle Torrent at Pacific Coliseum. Later that night, the Montreal Victoire will raise their championship banner at Place Bell as their host PWHL Hamilton.
Also on Saturday, PWHL San Jose will be the first expansion team to play on home ice as they take on the Minnesota Frost at the SAP Center.
On Sunday, the Ottawa Charge take on the Toronto Sceptres in the nation’s capital, while the New York Sirens host the Boston Fleet at Prudential Center.
The first all-expansion matchup of 2026-27 will see PWHL Las Vegas play PWHL Detroit.
Training camp and preseason
Earlier this month, the PWHL revealed that training camp rosters will be announced the week of Oct. 5, with each team inviting between 28 to 32 players.
Training camps will open Nov. 18 after the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship in Denmark is completed. Teams will then compete in two scrimmages between Nov. 22 and 30.
Three of the league’s four expansion franchises — PWHL Hamilton, PWHL Las Vegas and PWHL San Jose — will host preseason scrimmages.
