A bunch of supplemental discipline has been handed down by the PWHL.

On Wednesday, the PWHL Player Safety Committee announced that Minnesota Frost forward Peyton Anderson has been suspended for one game for an illegal body check, while teammate Britta Curl-Salemme has been fined $250 for cross-checking. Also, Montreal Victoire has been fined $250 for an illegal hit, with Boston Fleet forward Loren Gabelo also getting a $250 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

During the third period of Sunday’s Takeover Tour game in Denver, Anderson delivered a blindside hit on New York Sirens forward Paetyn Levis in the defensive zone. Anderson caught Levis in the shoulder and head, leading to the attacking forward going down in pain.

No penalty was called on the play.

This is the first time Anderson has faced supplemental discipline in her rookie season. She will miss the Frost’s game on Wednesday night against the Ottawa Charge. She’ll be eligible to return to the lineup on Saturday when Minnesota visits the Vancouver Goldeneyes.

Later on in the period, Curl-Salemme delivered a careless cross-check on New York center Kristin O’Neill with just a few minutes to go in regulation. Curl-Salemme’s actions also went unpenalized.

It wasn’t the first time she was caught in some controversy last week. In a game against the Seattle Torrent last Friday, Curl-Salemme delivered a hard check on Torrent forward Mikyla Grant-Mentis along the boards, leading to MGM exiting the game with an apparent shoulder injury.

This is far from the first time Curl-Salemme has faced supplemental discipline. In her rookie season, she was suspended twice during the regular season and once during the playoffs. However, per the PSC’s guidelines, the former Wisconsin Badger’s slate has been wiped clean, hence the small fine.

A couple of incidents stemmed from one play on Sunday as well. During the third period of a game between the Montreal Victoire and Boston Fleet, Flaherty nailed Fleet forward Jill Saulnier with a hard hit, knocking Saulnier back into the boards. A melee ensued, with Gabel pushing Victoire forward, Laura Stacey, while the former stood on the bench, leading to the first fine of her PWHL career.

Flaherty was given a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct. She was also suspended for two games last season while with the Minnesota Frost after a dangerous hit on Fleet forward Alina Muller.
