PWHL Hamilton signs Jade Iginla to one-year contract

Another youngster looking to make an immediate impact in the pros has signed her first contract.
On Tuesday, PWHL Hamilton announced that the team has signed forward Jade Iginla to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
Iginla was one of the expansion franchise’s first draft picks this past June. Hamilton took the daughter of Hockey Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla in the second round, 18th overall, of the 2026 PWHL Draft.
In a statement, Iginla said she’s excited to join the team in the fast-growing league.
“I’m thrilled to officially sign with PWHL Hamilton,” Iginla said. “I’ve heard so much about how passionate PWHL and Hamilton sports fans are, and I’m looking forward to getting to play in front of them. It’s special to be a small part of building this team from the ground up.”
Iginla enters the pro ranks after having an exceptional finish to her collegiate career. The 21-year-old had a career year while captaining Brown University for the second year in a row in 2025-26, scoring 17 goals while posting new career bests in assists (16) and points (33), finishing second on her team in scoring. She finished tied for ninth in the ECAC in goals and tied for 11th in overall scoring, and was named an All-ECAC Third Team all-star.
In 123 games with the Bears, the Lake Country, B.C. native scored 56 goals and 43 assists for 99 points.
Iginla also has an international pedigree, having won the gold medal with Canada at the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship.
With the signing, Hamilton has 16 players under contract for its inaugural season. They can add three more Standard Player Agreements before training camp begins in November.
Hamilton’s first season in the PWHL begins Dec. 5, when they visit the defending Walter Cup champion Montreal Victoire. The team’s first home game will take place on Dec. 13 against the Ottawa Charge.
