The 25-year-old joined Montreal late last season, scoring two goals in seven games. She also recorded an assist in three playoff games during their series against PWHL Boston.
“Mikyla helped our team from the moment she got to Montréal last season,” General Manager Daniele Sauvageau said in a team statement. “We are bringing back a player who raises her level of play when the stakes are high, as she showed us during the final stretch of our season and during the playoffs.”
She started the 2023-24 season with PWHL Ottawa, joining the club as a training camp, recording three assists in six games before being released by the club on Feb. 19.
Grant-Mentis burst onto pro scene during the PHF (formerly the NWHL) bubble in 2021, leading an expansion Toronto Six team to the Isobel Cup semifinals.
She ended up tied for the league lead in points, and was the named PWHL MVP. In the 2021-22 season, she was second in the PHF with 30 points in 19 games.
In college, Grant-Mentis scored 52 goals and 56 assists for 108 points in 137 games with the Merrimack College Warriors.
PWHL Montreal finished with a 13-6-5 record and 41 points, second in the league. Forward and team captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in 21 games.
Erin Ambrose would be named Defender of the Year at the PWHL Awards on June 11.
