The PWHL announced Thursday it suspended Montreal forward Sarah Lefort for one game for an illegal bodycheck delivered on Boston’s Jamie Lee Rattray during their game on May 4.

The incident occurred with five minutes left in the first period. There was no penalty called on the play.

She will serve the penalty of Game 1 of the team’s playoff series against Boston, which takes place Thursday night.

The league also announced a pair of fines on Thursday. Minnesota forward Liz Schepers was fined $500 for a hit delivered against New York in their May 4 matchup.

Montreal’s Melodie Daoust, who was activated by the club ahead of Thursday’s game vs. Boston, was fined $250 for an altercation during their May 4 game against Boston. She was penalized for grabbing the facemask of an opponent during a scrum.

Montreal went 13-6-5 with 41 points in the regular season, finishing with the No. 2 spot in the league. After first-place Toronto selected Minnesota to face in the first round, Montreal would face Boston. Game 1 of their best-of-five series starts Thursday at Place Bell in Laval, Que.

Toronto defeated Minnesota 4-0 in Game 1 on Wednesday in front of 8,473 fans at Coca-Cola Coliseum. Blayre Turnbull scored twice and Natalie Spooner, the league’s Top Goal Scorer and Points Leader, scored one of her own.
