“Mikyla is a skilled forward who brings a dynamic element to our offense,” said PWHL Seattle General Manager Meghan Tuner in a press release. “She has a great ability to find open space in the offensive zone and pushes the pace through the neutral zone to create chances off the rush. We’re excited to add her vision and creativity to our group in Seattle.”
The 26-year-old Grant-Mentis scored three goals and five assists for eight points in 30 games with the Montreal Victoire last season. She started her PWHL career with PWHL Ottawa before joining PWHL Montreal midway through the 2023-24 season.
In two PWHL seasons, she’s scored five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 443 regular-season games. She’s also recorded one assists in seven playoff contests.
“I’m super excited to get the opportunity to play for PWHL Seattle in its inaugural season,” Grant-Mentis said. “Playing at Climate Pledge last year for the Takeover Tour, you could feel the energy Seattle had for women’s hockey. I cannot wait to get things started in a city that is very passionate about women’s sports.”
Before joining the PWHL, she spent four seasons in the NWHL/PHF with the Buffalo Beauts and Toronto Six, scoring 29 goals and 34 assists for 63 points in 51 regular-season games. She won both the MVP and the Newcomer of the Year Award in the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 season.
Before turning professional, Grant-Mentis, a native of Brampton, Ont., spent four seasons playing college hockey at Merrimack College, scoring 56 goals and 61 assists for 117 points in 137 career games.
