PWHL Vancouver sign Emma Greco, Mellissa Channell-Watkins

The PWHL’s newest Canadian team has added two more pieces to an already stacked blue line.

PWHL Vancouver announced Tuesday the team had signed defenders Emma Greco and Mellissa Channell-Watkins.

Channell-Watkins, who spent the last two seasons with the Minnesota Frost and won two Walter Cup championships during that time, signed a one-year deal.

“Mellissa is a proven veteran defender who can play against this league’s top talent,” PWHL Vancouver General Manager Cara Gardner Morey said in a team statement. “She is a fierce competitor who is not afraid to play physical in all situations.”

“It’s an honor to join PWHL Vancouver,” said Channell-Watkins. “The opportunity to be part of this new organization and to help grow the visibility and viability of the women’s professional game means a lot to me.”

As for Greco, who won a Walter Cup with Minnesota in 2024 and spent the 2024-25 season with the Boston Fleet, signed a two-year deal through the 2026-27 season.

“We are equally thrilled to add another experienced veteran in Emma to our world-class D-corps,” Gardner Morey said. “Emma plays a confident and tough defensive game on the back end with the vision and ability to move the puck up ice quickly.”

“I am so honoured and grateful to be signing in Vancouver for the next two seasons,” said Greco. “It’s a beautiful city that I hold close to my heart so I can’t be more excited to get things started on the West Coast!”

Earlier in the day, PWHL Vancouver signed Michaela Cava to a two-year contract.
