QMJHL postpones Foreurs-Tigres game due to influenza outbreak

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) announced that Wednesday night’s game scheduled between the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Victoriaville Tigres will be postponed due to an influenza outbreak within the Tigres’ locker room.

The league announced it will reveal a new date in the near future.

“Several of our players have been ill for several days. Given the state of the situation, the QMJHL and the team’s head doctor have made the decision to postpone the game. The safety and health of the players remain the priority,” said Tigres general manager Kevin Cloutier.

The Tigres have a 16-8-3 record through their first 27 games, good for second in the Central Division. Forward Tommy Cormier is leading the team in scoring with 16 goals, 21 assists and 37 points, followed by winger Justin Larose with 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points.

Meanwhile, the Foreurs are dead last in the West Division with a 9-17-1 record. Defenseman Tomas Cibulka leads the team with eight goals, 20 assists and 28 points.

Last season, the Quebec Remparts won the Gilles-Courteau Trophy, the QMJHL Championship, and earned a berth to the 2023 Memorial Cup. They would go on to defeat the Western Hockey League’s Seattle Thunderbirds for their third Memorial Cup title.
