Rangers’ inform teams they will not be signing prospect Jayden Grubbe

As Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli reports, the New York Rangers have informed all 31 NHL clubs that they do not intend to sign 2021 third-round draft pick Jayden Grubbe to an entry-level contract. The deadline to sign Grubbe was June 1st.
One other personnel note: #NYR let all 31 other teams know they likely won’t be signing 2021 3rd rd pick Jayden Grubbe before June 1 deadline, making him available.
Grubbe had 67 pts in 64 games for WHL Red Deer. The Calgary kid is a 6-foot-3, right-shooting center.
Grubbe currently plays for the Red Deer Rebels in the Western Hockey League (WHL). During the regular season, the 20-year-old forward notched 67 points (18 goals, 49 assists) and 71 penalty minutes in 64 games while captaining the Rebels club to a 43-19-3-3 record, finishing first in the Central Division. He led all Rebels skaters in assists and ranked second among scoring leaders.
The Rebels are awaiting their second-round opponents in the WHL playoffs after defeating the Calgary Hitmen in five games, taking the series 4-1. Grubbe has registered one goal and nine assists for a team-leading 10 points in five games.
Grubbe was drafted seventh overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and made his WHL debut in 2019-20, picking up 29 points in 57 games. Throughout a four-year WHL career, the Calgary, Alberta product has tallied 39 goals and 95 assists for 134 points and 195 penalty minutes in 194 games while being team captain for three seasons. Grubbe also represented Team Canada Black at the Under-17 World Hockey Championships, playing with Shane Wright, Brandt Clarke and Brennan Othmann. He registered three points in five games.
