Real NHL goal songs highlight EA Sports NHL 27’s soundtrack

The sounds in the latest installment of one of the most legendary sports video game franchises are getting a huge update.

On Thursday, EA Sports released the soundtrack for NHL 27. While there are plenty of great tunes for fans to listen to, the 36th edition of the franchise will include goal songs for almost every team in the league.

That means that, along with scoring a goal in the game, users will get a chance to hear songs from their favorite team. If you score a goal with the Chicago Blackhawks, “Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis will play over the loudspeaker in the arena. Crowd Chant by Joe Satriani will carry on after a New York Islanders tally, while Zombie Nation by Kernkraft 400 will give Toronto Maple Leafs fans PTSD if the Boston Bruins were to score at TD Garden.

There are some notable omissions, including AC/DC, who have songs such as “For Those About to Rock” and “TNT” sampled by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames, respectively. “Without Me” by Eminem, the Detroit Red Wings‘ tune, is also not in the game.

There are also a couple of team-unique goal songs that have made their way into the game. Ray Castoldi’s “Slapshot” has been a mainstay for the New York Rangers since 1995, and will be included in NHL 27. The appropriately named “The Blues Have the Urge Goal Song (Let’s Go Blues)” by The Urge is also in this year’s game. My personal favorite, “Puck Off” by Pantera, will blast in the barn when the Dallas Stars score.

The Deluxe Edition of NHL 27 will be available to play on Friday, with the regular version of the game going live on Sept. 11.
