An undrafted player, Lomberg first joined the Calgary system in 2015. The Richmond Hill, Ont. product spent two seasons at the University of Maine and subsequently played with the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms in 2014-15 before joining the AHL’s Stockton Heat for the 2015-16 season.
Lomberg appeared in parts of five seasons with the Heat to begin his professional career, cultivating a reputation as a player unafraid to challenge anyone to a fight, and appeared in his first 11 NHL games with the Flames across the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. A free agent in 2020, Lomberg signed with the Florida Panthers and became an NHL regular over four seasons with the club, capping off his tenure by helping them win the Stanley Cup in 2024.
With the Panthers facing a salary cap crunch after their first championship, Lomberg signed a two-year deal to return to the Flames. He skated in 80 games with the club in 2024-25 but was limited to just 57 in 2025-26 as the Flames worked to introduce more young players into their lineup.
In 394 career NHL games over parts of eight seasons split between the Flames and Panthers, Lomberg has collected 35 goals, 72 points, and 475 penalty minutes. He’s added three goals in 32 career playoff contests, all with Florida.
