It seems that Hollywood star Ryan Reynold has found a partnership for his bid on the Ottawa Senators, as according to Ottawa Sun reporter Bruce Garrioch, he will be working with real estate developers Remington Group.

Remington Group are a residential and commercial real estate developer which have built and operated residential, retail, and commercial properties. While the company is led by CEO Rudy Bratty, it’s one of his four sons and Remington Group president Christopher Bratty who leads the bid along with several other partners.

“The Remington Group Inc. is a privately held company with substantial land holdings which develops and operates an extensive cross-section of residential, retail, commercial, and income properties,” the company says on their website.

“With more than 65 years of experience building dynamic communities in Southern Ontario, the Remington Group Inc. has evolved into one of the province’s largest land developers. Remington is widely recognized for its community-driven building philosophy and works closely with all levels of government to formulate nimble policy frameworks and forward-thinking plans to ensure each project is built to last.”

Some of the believed goals of both Remington Group and Reynolds are the desire to build a consistently competitive team on the ice, as well as grow the brand of the Senators and build a new stadium at LeBreton Flats.

If Reynolds is involved, he also plans to bring his film production company Maximum Effort to produce a series on the purchase of the franchise. Maximum Effort was responsible for filming the Disney+ series Welcome to Wrexham, which showcases Reynolds’ purchasing of Wrexham AFC, a Welsh Football Club in the National League that he co-owns with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney. While the team hasn’t been promoted out of the National League just yet, the duo have done an excellent job of acquiring talent and building the team’s brand, something that Reynolds will likely also bring to the table with the Senators if the reports are true.

Reynolds has been pursuing the Senators ownership for several months ever since he cryptically tweeted that he was interested in putting a stake in the hockey team, later confirming it on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, as well as making an appearance at Canadian Tire Centre shortly after. While Reynolds will be working with Remington Group to financially back the team, it’s believed that Reynolds will operate as the face of the Sens franchise and play a role in the decision-making for the team.

While Reynolds is better known for his Hollywood career in movies/TV shows like Deadpool, Just Friends, and Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, he has also carved out a solid career as a businessman. Along with his ownership of Wrexham AFC, he also has stakes at companies like Aviation American Gin and Mint Mobile.

The Senators have had an ownership vacancy since the passing of previous owner Eugene Melnyk on March 28, 2022. His daughters Olivia and Anna have assumed some of the duties since his passing, but have decided to sell the franchise to another client.
