The Buffalo Sabres acquired forward Eric Robinson from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, the Sabres announced on Wednesday.

The team also announced that it loaned forward Brandon Biro to their AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, as a corresponding move.

The 28-year-old winger has one goal in seven games this season, and with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, he’s scored one goal and four assists for five points in nine games.

He played in the Blue Jackets’ 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night, recording two shots and 16:43 of ice time.

Robinson, an undrafted free agent signed out of Princeton University, has spent all seven of his professional seasons with the Blue Jacket organization, scoring 38 goals and 44 assists for 82 points in 266 career NHL games. He’s averaged 12:55 of ice time during that time.

He recorded a career-high 27 points in 2021-22, scoring 10 goals and 17 assists in 67 games.

It’s been a tough start for the Sabres, with a 10-14-2 record and 22 points in their first 26 games. They’re currently on a four-game losing streak and are seventh in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division, going 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.

The Sabres play their next game on Thursday on the road against the Boston Bruins.

As for the Blue Jackets, they’re as bad as anyone in the league, with an 8-14-5 record and 21 points, currently last place in the Metropolitan Division. They’ve lost two straight and are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.

The Blue Jackets’ next game is Thursday night on the road against the New York Islanders.
