Just when things looked like they couldn’t get any worse for the Buffalo Sabres, the team proved fans wrong.

On Tuesday night at the Bell Centre, the Sabres arguably put forth one of their worst performances of the season against the Montreal Canadiens, giving up six goals in the first two periods on their way to a 6-1 loss, placing them at the bottom of the Atlantic Division as a result.

It was the team’s 11th consecutive loss, as Buffalo is slowly creeping toward its league-record 18-game skid set back in 2021.

The team has seemingly erased any hope of turning things around after loads of optimism heading into the 2024-25 campaign, as it looks like the Sabres are on their way to a 14th straight season without Stanley Cup Playoff hockey in Western New York.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk look at the Sabres’ embarrassing loss to their divisional rivals.

Frank Seravalli: Every time you turn around, things seem to be getting worse for the Buffalo Sabres.

Tyler Yaremchuk: They looked lifeless. They looked disinterested…Frank, this Sabres team is soft times a million. It’s just brutal.

Frank: All of this is going on…the Sabres cancel practice on Monday, team owner Terry Pegula flies in and meets with the team and gives them a positive message, and you have a game against the team that’s last in the conference–the only team that is below you in the standings–and 19 seconds in, you’re giving up a goal? And you’re getting trounced 6-1? That wasn’t just a loss, that was a statement. Scratch that, it wasn’t a statement, it was an indictment…It was an indictment on every guy in that Sabres room that just heard, 48 hours earlier, basically if you actually care about each other and you’re a good team…it’s exactly what you wanted to hear.

When the message from Terry Pegula is, “We believe that the solution is in this room,” It’s up to you to go out and prove it. When you turn around and lay an egg against that team, it’s unforgivable.
