The San Jose Sharks announced on Monday they have re-signed restricted free-agent right-winger Brandon Coe to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2024-25 season.

Coe, 22, is a 6-foot-5 forward who spent last season with the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracudas. Coe produced a career-high 12 goals and 17 points in 57 games and also added 43 minutes in penalties. It was his second professional season and he made strides on both sides of the puck. Coe was originally a 2020 fourth-round pick of the Sharks, 98th overall.

The Ajax, ON native looks to build off of his career season and propel himself up the Sharks organizational depth chart. It was his second full year as a professional after spending four seasons with the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League.

Throughout his junior days, Coe was an offensive force, including all the way into his overage year when he was named the OHL’s Overage Player of the Year in 2021-22. He was also named to the OHL’s First All-Star team the same season after collecting 34 goals and 67 assists. Throughout his junior career, Coe tallied 86 goals and 218 points in 250 games.

So far in 130 career AHL games, Coe has registered 18 goals and 20 assists and is hopeful he can take another step next season.

The Sharks continue to rebuild after an NHL worst record of 19-54-9 last season. General manager Mike Grier has been busy this offseason trying to emphasize drafting and developing, while also icing a productive team for the 2024-25 season. After selecting Macklin Celebrini first overall and Sam Dickinson 14th overall, Grier signed veteran forwards Tyler Toffoli and Alex Wennberg to multi-year contracts.

After getting Coe’s signature on the dotted line, Grier still projects to have $14.6 million in cap space heading into training camp in September.
