The San Jose Sharks have signed depth forward Ryan Carpenter to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.

Carpenter, 32, had three points in 22 games with the New York Rangers this past season. He spent most of the season in the AHL, with 21 goals and 44 points in 51 regular season games. He capped the year off with five points in nine playoff games with the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The 32-year-old previously played for the San Jose Sharks, recording five points between 2016-2018. Carpenter has 72 points in 330 games over nine NHL seasons and 174 points in 257 games in five AHL campaigns. Prior to turning pro, Carpenter had 37 goals and 79 points in 100 college games with Worcester. Carpenter was part of Vegas’ run to the 2018 Stanley Cup final, recording five assists in 17 games in a losing effort.

Earlier in the day, the Sharks signed goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood to a two-year deal worth $2.35 million per season. The club has $9.054 million in available cap space with 10 forwards, nine defense and two goaltenders signed.
