The San Jose Sharks won’t have one of their centers available for at least a game.

Ty Dellandrea did not travel with the team after getting injured in Tuesday’s 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, meaning he will miss Wednesday’s game agains the Los Angeles Kings.

The nature of Dellandrea’s injury is currently undisclosed, but he was forced to exit Tuesday’s game in the second period after driving the net hard and crashing into the goal post. He appeared to get tripped by Columbus’ Denton Mateychuk on the play, causing him to lose his balance.

The Toronto native has been a fixture in San Jose’s lineup this season, playing in all 42 games so far while registering two goals and nine assists for 11 points.

Dellandrea, 25, is in the second season of a two-year, $2.6 million deal with the Sharks. Last season, he had a goal and seven assists for eight points in 68 games. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season.

Initially drafted 13th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Dellandrea spent his first four professional seasons in Dallas’ organization. After splitting time between the NHL and the AHL’s Texas Stars for a couple of season, he became a full-time NHLer for the 2022-23 season, when he put up nine goals and 19 assistes for 28 points in all 82 regular season games.

After the 2023-24 season, in which Dellandrea notched two goals and seven assists for nine points in 42 games, he was traded to San Jose in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Following Wednesday’s game in Los Angeles, the Sharks will return to San Jose for back-to-back home games over the weekend. They’ll play the Stars on Saturday and the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
